Getting ready for the housewarming. The party has forced us to unpack, and buy, and buy and buy. You can thank me for stimulating the economy like a madwoman at any time.
We got the new rugs in the living room and dining room into the house & properly aligned last night. The only problem is that the cat who is fiercely territorial about her space seems to have adopted the dining room rug as her very own. She LOVES it. So much so, that we believe the rug may not be made out of wool, but actually made out of catnip.
I personally believed that she would love the sisal rug in the living room so much that she'd want to eat it, but no - that rug got a cursory glance and walking over. Now the dining room rug gets rubbed on and laid on and generally sexed up by the kitten. She wants to sit around there all day long and have you play with her. We've decided maybe she likes the softness of it and that she can get more of a grip for jumping around or something.
So if G'G' attacks you when you try to grab an appetizer or a drink. Sorry. I figured she'd only attack you when you went to see my bedroom. I did not anticipate that she'd take the dining room as her own.
I still need to get my Warhol pics up and purchase more food and, of course, alcohol for the party. Need to cook. Need to finish up getting all the boxes out of the house. Need to remember this is supposed to be fun.
I'm in the middle of a suburban housewife panic - I am so not Brie, that it's terrifying me to have to get an entire house ready for a party.
But come with ideas on how not to make my kitchen so ugly (without becoming a cliched kitchen) and what color the dining room needs to be painted to cover up the flesh color that it is now. Also, feel free to mock the unmatched shelves in the library. I can take it. There will be alcohol involved. Heh.
Oh yeah, if you get out of hand - we will lock you in the maid's room. For some *Boy* this is not so much of a punishment as a preference.
