Well, it's been an eventful morning. Someone jumped and killed themselves from the Marina Tower this morning and since I have a great view of that - I got to see the dude's (everyone who saw it from street level thinks it's a man) leg sticking out from underneath the sheet that the police/firemen covered him with. God, he smashed a car on the way down, too.
So freaking me out right now. Suicide is not much of a happy subject. Nor is seeing dead people lying on the street. Ugh. Okay, I'll try to come back later and write up something nice that has happened today, so this post goes away.
From the Trib - breaking news: Apparent suicide jumper at Marina Towers March 25, 2009 9:56 AM | No Comments | UPDATED STORY The State Street bridge over the Chicago River was closed this morning after a body -- an apparent suicide -- was found lying face down on the street near Marina Towers. The body was next to a red four-door sedan parked along the curb. The driver's side roof was smashed in. Earlier reports indicated the body was of a woman, but a police official at the scene said it was a man in his 50s who apparently jumped from the 28th floor. Police had gotten a call about a despondent man at Marina Towers before the body was found, the official said. The State Street bridge was closed to traffic, and people were being kept off as of 9:40 a.m. Several police officers stood on the northern end of the bridge speaking with Department of Transportation workers, who were gesturing at the Marina Towers building. Passersby stood and watched until an officer asked them to leave.
