Over the weekend Ray and I were discussing life and it came around to why aren't we willing to prosecute torturers from our own country, but are absolutely willing to prosecute those from other countries. Ray had the following idea that he feels should be said EVERY time that discussions regarding torture comes up.

TORTURE = TERRORISM

Below for your information are the definitions of these two words. I dare you to explain to me how these two are not the same...

Torture: the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.

Terrorism: the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.

Another aspect of terrorism is that they don't care about the outcome when it comes to casualties, the same is true of torture - sure, you can get accurate information, but that's not the end goal. The end goal is to terrify someone, i.e. terrorism.

TORTURE = TERRORISM

that's all you need to know.
