2009-06-02 - 5:13 p.m. I know I'm not an alderman, so I might be too fucking smart for my own good, but since all the debacle about the parking meters, I just decided to do some simple math. Really, just to decide how angry I should be. For ease of calculation let's just put the deal at $1 billion or let's just assume we are calculating the lost revenue of the deal supposedly worth $1 billion more than we got - either way - you'll be fucking pissed off. $1 billion dollars divided by 36,000 parking meters divided by 75 years = $370. So, they figured they would sell us out to the tune of a dollar a day for each meter for the next 75 years. How on earth does that even come close to making any sense to anyone ever? Fiscal or otherwise? Anyone know what the actual take is from parking meters before the stupid selling out? I am gonna go out on a limb and say - it's gotta be more than a dollar a day per meter even factoring in all the costs. Because if it's not - why on earth even have them?
