I am over being at work today after spending twelve hours here yesterday. It's amazing how empty an office looks and feels when there have been layoffs. Where is everyone?
And can we quit touting how great it is that productivity is up? Um, that's cuz we have no choice but to do the jobs of several of our co-workers now. Same workload as before, less people = higher productivity. I'm sure we will keep seeing higher productivity touted up and until the last lonely worker drops dead from having to do everyone's jobs.
A friend's department is down from seven to two people now. That's insane. She is now doing the work of 3.5 people now. Yeah, about that raise? No, no, I AM happy to have a job. Eh. Sure, it's more likely to kill me now because of all the stress.
What's that? My insurance premiums are going up again? You're raising taxes everywhere? Yep, so very lucky to have a job where my paycheck keeps going away much more quickly than before. If I'm going to have to get by on less and less - why not have every day off and be on welfare?
Killing the middle class once and for all. That's what they are doing now. Bye, Middle Class - it was fun while it lasted. BAck to being poor.
